A leader of an organisation once said ‘I want our people to be “unbridled yet corralled”‘. That is, alive and up to things but inside a clear corrall of what we as an organisation are about and where we’re headed.
I thought of this notion while on holiday in the fabulous Cuba. Cubans certainly live in a corrall. They have limited freedoms and life is pretty basic. But quite wonderfully they are unbridled, they make the most of life and are an upbeat, happy folk. As one of our taxi drivers put it “we have big problems. But we put them to the back and go on and party!”
Every organisation creates a corrall in terms of business ambition and feel of the place. How unbridled are you in your corrall? And how could you and others be even more unbridled?
PS Great news that at last the e-version of the book is available on Kindle and through the Apple ibooks store. It is also available through the Pearson website as an e-pub file at:
www.pearsoned.co.uk/bookshop/detail.asp?item=100000000476834
This means it can be downloaded to an iPad/iPhone, Android device, Nobo, Nook and Sony Reader. At last!!!
