Are you making truly conscious choices?

Part 2 in  a series of posts by Tamsin Rycroft inspired by FED questions that have her stop and think bigger…

Not always…but I’m trying and learning as I go along.

Turning 30 earlier this month has really made me think about what I want to achieve and the difference I want to make and how important this is to me. I know that I need to be stretched and challenged and I want to seek out further opportunities to develop my leadership.

This is going to require me making some conscious choices and asking some really big questions: What is it that I really want to be doing? Where am I going to find these opportunities? Am I prepared to make the time commitments? Will it improve the service that my team provides?

As a speech and language therapist, I strongly believe that every child and young person should be able to communicate. At least 10% of all children and young people will have a long term and persistent communication difficulty. We have to make conscious choices and bold decisions to ensure that these children get the support and help that they need.

Learning more about myself and the team that I work with helps me “to be even more up to something” and for our team to be more conscious of the choices that we are making that open up even bigger choices for the children and young people we are working with.

Leadership nudge: What choices do you need to make today? How can you be even more conscious of your choices today and tomorrow?
